The Sumatran Tiger is more than a wildlife species. They are guardians of the
forest’s balance. As long as tigers continue to roam the wild, the web of life remains intact. Rivers continue to flow. Forests continue to grow. And the rainforest remains a home for thousands of other species.
When tigers disappear, we do not lose only a species. We lose part of the soul of Sumatra’s forests.
At this sanctuary, every day is a story of hope. A story of keepers arriving before sunrise to prepare daily meals. Of tigers slowly recovering from injuries and trauma.
Of young cubs growing up with curiosity about the world around them. Barumun is more than a sanctuary. It is a place where second chances begin.
In the end, tigers may never know who fought for their survival. But one day, humanity will have to live with the answer to a far greater question: Did we choose to care? Or did we allow the last voice of the forest to fade away in silence? And hopefully, Sumatra will not become the next story of loss.
